50 Years ahead
As advancements in technology have allowed man to continually redefine what is possible, the performance of the Speedmaster has kept pace with digitization and the development of space age materials.Other than a few minimal refinements, the chronograph remains, essentially unchanged since 1957. Evidently the Speedmaster was 50 years ahead of the pack at the time of design.
It still takes 14 months to manufacture the 195 separate parts prior to assembly and 80 hand held operations to create the main plate for a single Speedmaster. Painstaking craftmanship certainly, yet there is no short cut to excellence.
